Terms of Service

Last updated: July 28, 2026

These Terms of Service are currently provided in English.

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Filmot’s websites, search engine, application programming interfaces, exports, documentation, accounts, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and authority

You must be legally capable of entering into these Terms. If you use the Service for a company, organization, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity, and “you” includes that entity.

2. The Service

Filmot is a search and analysis service for publicly available video-related information, including metadata, captions, subtitles, channels, and related materials. Features and results may differ by user, plan, location, data source, or availability. We may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

3. Accounts and API credentials

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account, API keys, tokens, and other credentials. You are responsible for activity performed through your account or credentials. Do not sell, transfer, publish, or share credentials except with people authorized to act on your behalf. Notify us promptly through our contact form if you believe an account or credential has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You may use the Service only in compliance with these Terms, the documentation, and applicable law. You may not:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, harassing, or harmful activity.
  • Infringe or facilitate infringement of intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, another account, or any connected system.
  • Bypass or defeat authentication, CAPTCHA, access controls, quotas, rate limits, usage accounting, or security measures.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, overload, damage, or degrade the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Introduce malware or use the Service to distribute malicious code, spam, or unsolicited communications.
  • Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities without our prior written permission.
  • Misrepresent the source, ownership, accuracy, or endorsement of data obtained through the Service.
  • Use personal information obtained through the Service for unlawful surveillance, discrimination, harassment, or identification of individuals in a manner that creates a material risk of harm.

5. API and automated access

Automated access must use the documented API or another method expressly permitted by us. You must follow the current API documentation, send accurate request information, and remain within assigned quotas and rate limits. You may not create multiple accounts or keys to avoid restrictions. We may measure usage, enforce technical limits, reject requests, rotate or revoke credentials, and change API methods, fields, limits, or availability.

You are responsible for your applications and end users, including their compliance with these Terms and all laws that apply to collection, storage, use, display, and sharing of data. You must implement reasonable security safeguards and must not expose API credentials in client-side code or public repositories.

6. Third-party content and services

The Service indexes or links to information originating from third parties. Filmot does not own or control that source material, and inclusion in search results does not imply endorsement, affiliation, or a license to use it. Your use of third-party content and services is subject to applicable law and any terms imposed by the relevant third party. You are responsible for determining whether your intended use is permitted.

7. Search results and data quality

Search results, subtitles, captions, translations, statistics, and metadata may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, duplicated, unavailable, or out of date. Automatically generated captions and third-party metadata may contain errors. Do not rely on the Service as the sole basis for legal, safety-critical, medical, financial, or other high-impact decisions.

8. Fees, plans, and usage limits

Some features may require an account, paid plan, membership, or usage credits. Prices, included usage, renewal terms, and limits presented when you subscribe form part of these Terms. Unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable. Taxes, network charges, and third-party costs are your responsibility. We may change future pricing or plan features with reasonable notice where practicable.

9. Filmot rights and feedback

Filmot and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, including its software, design, documentation, branding, and original content. These Terms give you only a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. If you provide feedback or suggestions, you permit us to use them without restriction or compensation.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how Filmot handles information associated with use of the Service. You are responsible for providing any notices and obtaining any permissions required for information that you process through your own application or use of the API.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may limit, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, failed to pay applicable fees, or threatened the security or reliable operation of the Service. Where practicable, we may provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” FILMOT DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WILL BE PRESERVED.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FILMOT WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FILMOT’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FILMOT FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations. In those jurisdictions, these provisions apply only to the extent permitted by law, and mandatory consumer rights are not affected.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, if you use the Service on behalf of a business or organization, that entity will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Filmot and its operator from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your applications, your use of the Service, your content or data practices, or your violation of these Terms or third-party rights.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security needs, or our business practices. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practicable. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the changes.

16. General terms

If any provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only to the extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, transfer, or operation of the Service. These Terms, together with any plan terms and policies they reference, are the entire agreement concerning the Service.

17. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be submitted through the Filmot contact form.
